Leelanau County, you outdid yourself.
Through the years a looseknit group of governments, organizations and volunteers have planted thousands of bluegills in Kids Fishing Pond, the gemstone of Veronica Valley County Park.
All those supporters provided a group hug to an estimated 1,000 people who attended Kids Fishing Day on June 30. It was a family-friendly day filled with smiles, wonder, and an exciting invitation to fishing for young people.
I wish I could name all the folks who contributed, but space does not permit. On behalf of hundreds of young people, I offer a big thank you. You’re appreciated.
