Farmer says ‘thanks’

To the editor: Thank you to the Enterprise, who in both last weeks’ “View” and Amy Hubbell’s Editorial, expressed their support and concern for the cherry growers in this county. Thank you, also, to the folks who buy local cherries rather than cherries from elsewhere and other countries.

Thank you to the Enterprise, who in both last weeks’ “View” and Amy Hubbell’s Editorial, expressed their support and concern for the cherry growers in this county.

Thank you, also, to the folks who buy local cherries rather than cherries from elsewhere and other countries. Thank you to the folks who come by fruit stands and farmer’s markets for the freshest local crops. In this way, you provide a higher return to the grower than fruit that’s been on a truck for a thousand miles. Thank you to the nearby chef’s and bakeries that use local fruit. And, to the Northwest Michigan Horticulture Research Station, who hosted the Orchard Tours during Cherry Festival, so that visitors could get a glimpse of what all it takes to produce those fruits, salsas, jams, and juices that were sampled.
