Grant prevails in register of deed vote

Outside of the Republican nominations for the District 1, 2, and 7 commissioner seats, there was just one contested countylevel position on the Aug. 6 primary election ballot: the register of deeds. Incumbent Register of Deeds Jennifer Grant faced Leland Township resident Renée Wyler for the Republican candidacy.

According to the unofficial election results linked on the county website, last updated at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday at the time of writing, Grant had a commanding lead with 3,133 out of 3,716 votes, or 84.18%. Wyler had 583 votes, or 15.66% of all votes. Six people voted for write-in candidates.

There was no Democratic candidate on this week’s primary election ballot, so Grant will run unopposed on the Nov. 5 general election ballot. Grant posted an update to her re-election campaign page on Facebook Wednesday morning announcing that she will serve as register of deeds for another four years.
