The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) will host a press conference regarding the State of Michigan’s sweet cherry production at 3 p.m. today at 1101 Peninsula Dr., Traverse City. The press conference will feature speakers MDARD Director Dr. Tim Boring; Cherry Marketing Institure Executive Director Emily Miezio; Betsy Coffia, Michigan State Representative.
Boring, Miezio and Coffia will highlight the climate-related sweet cherry growing challenges across Michigan in the 2024, while discussing Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s letter to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) urging action.
