A ‘Dune Dash’ 4-mile run/ walk along the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail will take place on Saturday at 9 a.m., presented by the Traverse Area Recreation and Transportation (TART) Trails, Inc.

The run/walk will start at the Sleeping Bear Dune Climb with registration fees ranging from $25-30, depending on age. Registration is open at www. dunedash.com. Prices increase on August 16.

Organized by the creators of the Traverse City Zombie Run, the Dune Dash is supported by, Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes, The Filling Station Microbrewery, Meijer, Pure Water Works, KLT the Rock Station and TART Trails.

Event Coordinator Matt Ross says, “The top three reasons to register are the cause (all proceeds support the Trail), the unique 4-mile distance, and the unbeatable location!”

Participants will receive professionally timed results, a race bib, post-race refreshments, and entertainment. Medals will be awarded to the top male and female finishers and the top three in each age group. Packet pick-up is at The Filling Station Microbrewery on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. or at the Dune Climb on race day.

Proceeds from the event will help fund the next 4-plus miles of the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail. The upcoming segment, Pathway to Good Harbor (Segment 9), will extend from Bohemian Road (CR 669) to Good Harbor Trail (CR 651), offering a nearly 5-mile trail that showcases the natural beauty and rich history of the area. The trail will include a 10-foot-wide paved path, a boardwalk, and sections with retaining walls, ensuring safe access for all ages and abilities.

The event has raised over $20,000 to date for trail support. For more information on the Dune Dash visit www.dunedash. com, or contact Matt Ross at [email protected] or 231409-1943.
