Board accomplishments

To the editor:

This newspaper paints a picture of our Leelanau County Board of Commissioners as an acrimonious and dysfunctional body, in part by devoting a great deal of attention to minor issues. Yet we should remember that the current bipartisan Board has accomplished a lot, often with support by five out of six commissioners. For example: 1. Responsible financial management, including balanced budgets and a clean audit; 2. Broadband service nearly complete by the end of 2024; 3. Early childhood and senior services programs; 4. A septic ordinance to protect our freshwaters; and 5. A task force to consider energy alternatives.
