To the editor:
1. Everyone can and should be who they want to be, genderwise, and otherwise, but the risqué body display for the drag Tea Dance in Northport is not appropriate for children, daytime, or even a photo in Leelanau Enterprise.
2. The beautiful aerial photo of Good Harbor Bay has a hidden obscenity. If it could zoom down close, chunks of charcoal (remnants of nightly beach fires) would be seen covering the beach. Beach fires would likely end if a sign were posted warning of a $1000 fine for every offense of the already illegal activity.
3. The article ‘Dune Dash to Benefit Sleeping Bear Trail’ hides another offense against nature. The Heritage Trail extension funded by the Dash will destroy critical dunes, rare wetlands, and over 7000 trees. The national park was formed in 1970 to protect our rare and pristine dunes. TART goals to make nature “accessible” and extend their trail network must not destroy nature to do so. These environmental impacts cannot be justified when harmless trail alternatives are overlooked.
The last offense is the most important, because it has not yet happened. Please checkout sleepingbearnaturally.com and attend meetings about the Heritage Trail Segment 9 extension.
