Coverage appreciated

To the editor: I was happy to see the featured coverage of the TART trail extension through Cleveland Township. I am hopeful that continued thought is put into redirecting the project in order to protect the natural landscape for residents and visitors.

I was happy to see the featured coverage of the TART trail extension through Cleveland Township. I am hopeful that continued thought is put into redirecting the project in order to protect the natural landscape for residents and visitors. The idea of walling off and destroying one of the area’s unique sand dunes in order to pave the way for a bike path seems like a gross violation of the very nature the trail would hope to show off.

I very much enjoyed the proposed route presented on the website www.sleepingbearnaturally. com that would send the path on the south side of M-22 and past the local businesses like Market 22 and Little Traverse Inn. This area was not as commercially active when TART first designed their trail years ago. Now that it is, I think a great opportunity presents itself to reevaluate TART’s plan in a way that would preserve nature, provide a safe bike trail, and prop up locally owned businesses in Cleveland Township. I appreciate that the Enterprise is taking the time to cover the dissent on this issue with newfound depth. And I want to say thank you to the Cleveland Township Board for making this possible.
