Suttons Bay volleyball is back on the court ready to compete in its first matches happening yesterday in a quad match with Glen Lake and Leland.

Suttons Bay second-year coach Olivia Dohm is excited to work with the young talent and the continuous rebuild of the program.

“I’m looking for their leadership on and off the court and knowing the game,” Dohm said. “We’ve been working really hard on that communication piece. We have a lot of new kids that are playing together. So building that team chemistry of being next to each other in that communication piece. So that way when it comes game time, we’re all set.”

Suttons Bay is full of athletes that play a lot of different sports that provide a dynamic aspect to the team.

Suttons Bay senior Becca Grant and junior Megan U’Ren were named this year’s captains.

“I think that we have a lot of young talent and that we’re just gonna continue to grow throughout the season. Work hard and keep trying to get better every day,” U’Ren said.

The Norsemen have four seniors, two juniors, one sophomore, and four freshmen.

“We just have to be willing to push our teammates hard, help them grow and make sure everyone knows what’s going on. Leaders on the court, celebrate them, when they do something good. Help them when they need extra help,” Grant said.

As Suttons Bay enters the first competition of the season, they will be focused on working together and building team chemistry.

“Communicating throughout everything,” U’Ren said.
