Suttons Bay athletes and their families will have it a little easier this fall.
The Suttons Bay Board of Education voted Aug. 12 to discontinue its “Pay to Play” program.
For years, the school district has collected anywhere from $75 to several hundred dollars, depending upon the sport.
However, the board, upon the recommendation of Superintendent Casey Petz, set fees at zero.
“The fees may created barriers for student athlete who want to participate,” Petz said. “We hope we’ll be in place for the future.”
Cooperative sport athletes, attending other schools yet participate on Suttons Bay teams, will still have to pay to participate.
