SB bounces back after early early loses

The Suttons Bay soccer have had a tough three game stretch over the past week to find their legs before the calendar flips to September. Last Wednesday, Suttons Bay battled TC Christian in a 5-1 loss.

Last Wednesday, Suttons Bay battled TC Christian in a 5-1 loss.

The Sabres started hot with four goals in the first half, followed by a 1-1 draw in the second half.

Isaac Martin scored early in the second half off of a penalty kick drawn by Avery Kelley in the box. TC Christian was able to score in the last two minutes of the game.

Ty Brenner recorded 16 saves and Josh Bunek led the team with 10 blocked shots in the loss.

On Friday, Suttons Bay lost to Hart 4-1 in another tough contest to begin the season.

Martin scored the lone goal once again for the Norsmen.

Ty Brenner registered seven saves and gave up two goals in the first half, while Jacob Davis recorded nine saves and allowed two goals in the second half. Suttons Bay senior Grahm Martin recorded four steals in his return to play for the Norseman.

Suttons Bay finished a busy week in a 3-1 win over Cadillac Heritage Christian (CHCS) on Monday.

Norsemen goals were started off by Jorge Gomez (assisted by Martin) in the first half of play at CHCS. Julian Calderon had two goals with assists by Cole AndersonandMartin. The game winner came off a cross by Anderson that Calderon headed squarely into the back of the net in the first half of play.

Ty Brenner registered four saves in the first half and Jacob Davis recorded two saves in the second. CHCS scored their goal on a penalty kick awarded in the second half. Senior Connor Sahs led the Norseman with 7 blocked shots in the contest.

Leland Soccer

The Comets rebounded after suffering its first loss of the season against Kingsford 1-0 last week.

Leland hit the road again and defeated Gaylord 5-0.

The Comets were led by five goal scorers including Brian Mosqueda, Max Waldrup, Jose Roman, Colby Connor, and Weston Burda. Assists were tallied by Mosqueda, Adrian Spencer, Liam Waskiewicz, and Talen graham.

Leland goalkeeper Ravello Sith completed the shutout in net.
