To the editor:
We would like to thank the leadership of the Cleveland Township board in reviewing Segment 9 of the Heritage Trail. We appreciate the board considering the environmental impact and exorbitant costs with other more favorable options. As the homeowner on the corner of M22 and Little Traverse Lake Road, our home will be severely and negatively impacted by the proposed trail. We will no longer be able to use our driveway and will have no access to parking on the front or side of our house and our split rail fence will need to be removed. Our beautiful large, pine trees that offer us privacy and a buffer to M22 will need to be removed. To say we are heartbroken is an understatement. However, our biggest fear is the danger of cars pulling in and out of our garage with very limited line of sight. The potential for a serious accident is very real and is extremely concerning to us. We are not against the trail, but we would hope that more favorable options could be considered. We would ask those in favor of this trail location to put yourselves in our shoes. We can only hope that other solutions will be considered.
