1962 ~ 2024
MAPLE CITY – Dale Francis Larkins, 61, of Maple City, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at home with his family at his side.
Dale was born November 5, 1962 in Hamtramck, MI the son of George and Martha (Winowiecki) Larkins.
He was a 1982 graduate of Glen Lake High School. After high school he earned his degree from Northwestern Michigan College in drafting and design. Dale first worked at Northbay Engineering and later it became Verstand Engineering in Traverse City. He ran the warehouses at many notable area businesses such as Valley Truck Part, Arts Auto Electric, and retired from Standard Electric as the warehouse manager. He also delivered parts in Leelanau County to his friends and neighbors.
Dale’s father, George, held a love for the old westerns and passed this love down to his three sons. Dale loved John Wayne and country and western music. Some of his favorite artists were Elvis, Tammy Waynette, Loretta Lynn, George Jones and Toby Keith.
Dale and his brothers were long-time altar servers at St. Rita’s Church. He held a deep loved for his Savior, Jesus and a deep faith. Dale was afflicted with a life-long illness but his faith remained strong.
Dale is survived by his mother, Martha; his two brothers, John and George Larkins; and a nephew, Matthew Larkins.
He was preceded in death by his father, George; and his grandparents Frank (Bertha) Winowiecki; Kathleen (Norman) More; and Edgar (Virginia) Larkins.
The mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, with the family greeting friends at 9:00 a.m. at St. Rita’s Church of Maple City. Burial will follow in St. Rita’s Cemetery in Maple City. After the burial a luncheon will follow at the Maple City Lions Club.
