Suttons Bay defended their home field once again to beat Bear Lake 33-16 on Friday.
The Norsemen were unstoppable on offense and defense all night long.
“They were a good team and they gave us fits in the first half and made some adjustments and worked out quite well during the second half,” Suttons Bay football coach Garrick Opie said. “Our run game has been out strength this year and we continue to work on it and found some schemes and stuck to the plan.”
Suttons Bay and Lake Leelanau St. Mary seniors Jackson Loucks and Luke Bramer ran wild against the Bear Lake defense. Suttons Bay Grayson Opie also found success through the air.
The Norsemen will be heading downstate to play Mio-Ausable.
“We haven’t played Mio in a long time and we are looking forward to it,” Opie said. “We are preparing specific schemes for what we see on film and making adjustments and hopefully our game plan will work out.”
Mio comes into week three 1-1 after they lost to AuGres-Sims 56-14.
The last time Suttons Bay played Mio was way back in 2019 when the Norsemen defeated Mio 50-48 to advance to the 8-player Div. 1 semifinal.
