Out of commission

Over the past two years, the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners has made some baffling decisions.

They paid a consultant to survey employees they don’t even manage — like deputies, clerk assistants and extension workers — who are under the control of other officials or unions. The only person they actually employ is the county administrator.
