To the editor:
County Commission Dist. 4 candidate Jim White plays loose with the facts and perpetuates misunderstandings that encourage fear of county government. Voters deserve accuracy.
1.) The federal government made internet access for rural America a funding priority, enabling our County to legally use ARPA funds to provide affordable, high-speed connectivity to hundreds of unserved residents in Dist. 4.
2.) County property tax collections grew by 9% last year, not 30%.
3.) The County budget grew because of grant funds NOT local taxes.
White’s credibility is suspect. I support Wessell.
