To the editor:
Contrary to rumors and candidate misrepresentations, the construction and administration of a solar project at the County Government Center would be paid for entirely through grant dollars. If the State awards Leelanau County a grant, the solar array could produce self-generated clean energy within a year and immediately bring cost savings of over $35,000 annually.
The grant application does not contain a component to transition the county vehicle fleet to EVs and add charging stations.
The potential reopening of the retired Palisades nuclear plant requires a lengthy permitting process with an uncertain outcome because a restart has never been done in the U.S..
