Costs v. benefit

To the editor: The Leelanau Co Board of Commissioners is about to vote on a solar project at the government center that costs 1 million dollars. Supporters claim the project will save 35 thousand dollars a year, however they fail to include the additional expenses required in the contract to purchase electric vehicles to replace the county’s fleet along with the cost of maintenance and charging stations.

I support Jim White for county commission district 4 because he believes decisions on spending taxpayer funds should not be made after thorough analysis of need & cost benefits, not just good intentions.
