Solar energy, common sense

To the editor: I strongly urge the Leelanau Board of Commissioners to move forward in adopting solar energy at the Leelanau County Government Center - especially if the county has the good fortune of receiving a state grant to cover the cost. My husband and I installed solar panels 5 years ago at our home in Glen Arbor Township and are extremely happy with their performance.

To the editor:

I strongly urge the Leelanau Board of Commissioners to move forward in adopting solar energy at the Leelanau County Government Center - especially if the county has the good fortune of receiving a state grant to cover the cost. My husband and I installed solar panels 5 years ago at our home in Glen Arbor Township and are extremely happy with their performance. Despite northern Michigan’s short and often cloudy winter days, the solar panels produce a vast majority of our electricity needs each year and are proving to be a solid investment. Adopting solar energy is a common sense move which makes economic and environmental sense. It is a win-win.
