Glen Lake hosted a Northwest Conference cross country meet on Tuesday as the Lakers celebrated seniors. Glen Lake seniors include Colebrook Sutherland for the boys and Emily Alaimo for the girls.
Sutherland dominated the field along with sophomore teammate Abraham Feeney, finishing first and second with times of 17:04 and 17:26.
“It was fun running for the home crowd. I wanted to try and go wire to wire, just lead the whole way. I probably went out way too fast doing that,” Sutherland said.
Glen Lake’s course was set up to be a hilly challenge for runners going up and down the topography leading to a longer race.
“I was trying to go with the race and just not push too hard. There are so many hills, and I tried to not go out so hard that I die at the end,” Feeney said. “I think it was a really good last home meet.”
All local runners will be working on speed over the last month before regionals on Saturday, Oct. 28.
