To the editor:
I’m writing you as 45-year volunteer fireman and as a 33-year Leelanau Township Board Trustee. Someone is spreading misinformation that the Township Board is “slashing” the Emergency Services and Police Fund. This board is aligning our millages with the actual budgets, not creating surpluses as we have with Emergency Services at a $1.6 million reserve and a $219,000 police reserve. The only thing being reduced is your taxes, NO cut in services. The 2024-25 budget is balanced on the new millage rate. Let’s support reasonable governance by the Township Board.
