Kasson Township residents: I am running for a third term as a Kasson township trustee. It has come to my attention that there is a misconception in the township that I was in favor of the past Michigan Sprint Enduro Motorcycle event. Nothing could be further from the truth. My position was that under our ordinance the applicants had a right to run their dirt bikes on their property. It was never to allow a commercial event. There is a fine line between tax payer property rights and that of their neighbors rights. “You need to be a good neighbor.”

If you go back in the minutes of July 17th 2023 you will read the following: Carter moved to discontinue consideration of the special use permit of the Michigan sprint enduro motorcycle event under section 7.15 of the Kasson township zoning ordinance; Schaeffer seconded. All present in favor, motion carried.

This motion was made after a lengthy hesitation of the board to act, thus ending the consideration of this special use permit.
