To the editor:
The Village of Empire is lucky to have Karen Baja, Dave Taghon, and Diana Oberschulte, who hosted an outdoor Empire candidate forum earlier this month. Empire has seven people running for three Trustee seats; the chance to get to know the candidates is challenging. Thanks to the Leelanau County League of Women Voters and Empire residents Rodney Barnes and Steve Lewis (with a last-minute podium save from resident Bob Chase), Empire residents were able to get a second look at the candidates in a setting that offered a different format with questions coming from residents. Go Empire!
