1954 ~2024
Traverse City – Raymond Wilbur Haring, 69, of Traverse City, passed away on September 28, 2024.
Ray was born on December 23, 1954 in Flint to the late Jerry and Eleanora ( Jankowski) Haring.
On February 22, 1986, he married Judy Ann Kalar. She preceded him in death in 2017.
Ray taught fire fighters for 22 years and was fire chief of Elmwood Township. He also worked with the developmentally disabled for 13 years at Grand Traverse Project and was the instructor of the year in the state of Michigan in 2000.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol McVicker; brothers-in-law, Carl Bell and Marvin McVicker; stepsonin- law, Tony Harris; nephew, Kurt Bell; nieces, Kim (McVicker) Martines and Sarah Bell.
Ray is survived by his sisters: Darla Bell, Ann (Guy) Tucker; brother, Leo (Diane) Haring; stepdaughter, Mary Harris; stepson, Jim (Laura) Harris; grandchildren, Grace Iverson, Alyson Harris, Nickolas Harris; nieces and nephews: Emily (Tom) Caswell, Korey Tucker, Gywain Tucker, Alisha Tucker, Jan (Bobby) Carnoma, Jeff (Kim) Haring, Connie Summers, Ken Martines, Teresa Root; best friend, Rick Voight; and many other family members and friends.
Ray will be laid to rest at the Covenant Cemetery in Grand Blanc.
Memorial contributions in his honor may be directed to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
