Jacqueline “Jackie” (Amos) Bowen, age 85, of Elk Rapids, Michigan passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on October 3rd, 2024.

Jackie was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 2, 1939 to Anne (Emley) Amos and Maurice (Dale) Amos.

She was raised along with her three sisters and one brother on East Main Cross in Edinburgh, Indiana. She attended boarding school from the age of fourteen through her graduation at the Pinebrook School for Girls (Leelanau School) in Glen Arbor, Michigan, where she participated in field hockey, basketball and cheerleading. She attended Western Michigan University.

Jackie married Edward Edson Bowen of Livonia, Michigan on June 27, 1959 at the Amos family home, Frost Hill Farm, in Edinburgh, Indiana. The farm was wellknown for breeding and racing some of the industry’s most famous Standardbred race horses.

In 1964, Jackie and Ed moved their family to Northport, Michigan and along with their parents, founded Timber Shores Resort in 1965. Throughout the course of her career, Jackie worked as a bookkeeper for the family and local businesses. She also served as President of Amos Investment Corporation.

In 1990, she moved to Elk Rapids, Michigan where she loved to play golf and was a member of the Elk Rapids Golf Club. Jackie was an avid bridge player and was part of two clubs; even during Covid, when they had to sneak in the backdoor to play. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed making her kid’s favorite recipes. She baked bread, brownies and her famous Chex mix every week to share with everyone! In 2006, Jackie was named Elk Rapids’ “Sweetheart of The Year.” Her home was a revolving door to all those who called her “Nana.” From the delivery man, locals, neighbors and friends, it was not out of the ordinary for all to stop in for coffee or even join the family for dinner.

Jackie is survived by her former husband Edward Bowen, her sisters Deborah Amos Cook, Constance Amos Carpenter, her five children, Edward (Susan) Bowen, Amy (Scott) Hendrickson, Beth (Mike) Kinna, Meg (Dave) Warm, Holly (Tim) Rudolph, her twelve grandchildren, Jordan Bowen, Amanda Hendrickson (Eric Dean), Abbey (Chris) Cooper, Clare, Grace, Lucy, and Michael Kinna, Sally and Samantha Warm, David G. (Casey Jo) Warm, Montgomery and Jacqueline Finch and her three great-grandchildren, Jackson and Charlie Cooper and Palmer Dean, many nieces and nephews, and her dear friend Micheal Camp.

Jackie was preceded in death by her mother Anne, her father Dale, her sister Sandy Freeman and her brother Rob Amos.

A celebratory open house will be held at Elk Rapids Golf Club on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 12-3 pm. In lieu of flowers and gifts please donate to the Trump campaign in honor of Jackie. Make America Great Again.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Elk Rapids Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. www.beaconfh.com
