To the editor:
The Enterprise reported that the county spent $600,000 to create two new departments.
On May 11, 2021 Republicans , with 20 minutes of discussion, approved creating these departments with no stated justification orcostestimate. Democrats, led by Ty Wessell and Gwenne Allgaier, moved to explore this idea rather than adopting it on the spot, but were voted down.
The total lack of planning and clear purpose, and the rush to act, has been disruptive and costly. The ongoing expense will be significant.
Republicans are responsible for blindly and impulsively imposing this expense on taxpayers.
