On Leelanau 633, just south of Herman Road, there is a sign with a flashing light to warn drivers traveling to the north to slow down, with the light flashing during school hours.

This light has not worked for two years. The Road Commission replaced a steel culvert between the light and a nearby power pole two years ago; might the Road Commission or its contractors have damaged the electrical connection? Seems like a pretty big coincidence if they did not. I think the Village of Suttons Bay used to pay for the electricity for the light, but it appears the light is in the Township, not the Village, so the Village has not addressed theproblem. Neitherhasthe Township. One would hope that another two years will not go by before these three units of government fix the light. Our kids deserve better.
