The next Elmwood Township Planning Commission meeting could be a doozy. If the size of the crowd and the emotions in the room at a Nov. 20 planning commission meeting are anything like what was on display at a privately-organized neighborhood meeting Tuesday night in the Elmwood Township Hall. *** The Leland Dam Authority on will review bids on a “flood wall” to keep water out of a control room at the base of the Leland Dam and may recommend that everyone owning waterfront on Lake Leelanau help pay for ongoing maintenance of the dam. The county-owned-and-operated dam regulates water levels in Lake Leelanau in keeping with a court order. The Leland River drains the waters of Lake Leelanau into Lake Michigan over the dam.
