Lake Leelanau St. Mary (2716-3) fell in a district final volleyball game Thursday 3-0 against T-C Christian 13-25, 17-25, 18-25.
St. Mary senior Cathryn Mikowski and Kyla Barnowski led the way with a combined 10 kills and 11 digs.
Other Eagle contributors include Lydia Bramer 10 assists, 7 digs; Maggie Ursu 6 digs; Madelyn Hamilton 2 digs; Daisy Serrano 4 digs.
St. Mary defeated Suttons Bay Wednesday in the district semifi nal 25-16, 25-16, 20-25, 25-18.
Barnowski was dominant with 16 digs, 6 digs, 2 aces; Mikowski 12 kills, 4 digs, 1 ace, 1 block; Ursu 7 kills, 10 digs, 4 aces; Bramer 41 assists, 6 digs, 5 aces, 3 kills, 1 block; Mackenzie Schaub 6 kills, 1 ace, 1 block; Kaelyn Kelenske 10 digs, 1 ace.
“It was fun to see (Suttons Bay) again. They fought hard, but we were ready to go and had a great night that night,” St. Mary coach Alyssa Bunek said.
Suttons Bay fought until the very end of an impressive season.
Suttons Bay junior Megan U’Ren paced the team with 11 kills, 13 digs. Freshmen Leah Clarke and Ava Anderson combined for 19 assists, 5 aces and nine kills.
Suttons Bay senior Bekka Grant left it all out on the court in her final match with 17 digs.
Suttons Bay coach Olivia Dohm could not coach as she gave birth to a girl last week. Assistant coach Sarah U’Ren stepped in to coach the last game of the season.
Lakers fall in districts
Glen Lake fell to TC St. Francis last Wednesday in three sets 12-25, 13-25, 9-25.
Glen Lake senior Peyton Brown had three kills and five digs to end the season.
“We worked hard that game, but St. Francis is such a clean and good team that it was a struggle for us, but the girls hung in there, staying positive and we enjoyed the end of the season together,” Glen Lake coach Stephanie Peplinski said.
