Glen Lake basketball is ready to make another championship run as players lace up their shoes for the 2024-25 season.

The Lakers are coming off an impressive year, having defeated Bellaire 65-49 in the regional final behind Jacob Plamondon’s 23-point performance, before falling to Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart 63-51 in the quarterfi nal.

After competing in Division 4 last season, the Lakers will now face new challenges in Division 3.

“We have to push the ball and we need to rebound. Let’s work together and have good chemistry,” Plamondon said.

The senior-heavy roster includes Benji Allen, Michael Houtteman, Isaac Hlavka, Colebrook Sutherland and Keaton LaCross.

“Last year, we made a pretty good run. We lost a couple of guys but we’ve got some starters back with a bigger senior group,” Houtteman said.

Allen added, “I’m pretty excited. We want to make a big run in Division 3 this year and hopefully get to the Breslin. As seniors, we’ve been looking forward to this since we were in 4th grade, just starting up. We’re ready to go.”

The Lakers plan to identify their strengths and weaknesses in the early games with a particular focus on reducing turnovers.

Both Plamondon and Allen are known for their explosive above-the-rim play, capable of delivering game-changing moments and SportsCenter Top-10 worthy highlights.

Coach Jason Bradford, who took over the boys program midway through last season, brings championship experience after leading the Lady Lakers to a state title in 2023, He’s now focused on guiding the boys team to similar heights.

“It’s great having the summer with all these boys. They did really well this summer. They are hungry,” Bradford said. “Looking at last year, they knew they could have made it to the Breslin, falling just one game short. They’re hungry to get after it, and competition has high expectations. They push each other,” The Lakers feature a veteranheavy roster with six seniors and two juniors leading the way. The team will also rely on promising underclassmen, including sophomores Gabe Hazelton and freshman Toby Bradford and Max Lamerson.

Looking to play an up-tempo style, the Lakers plan to make pushing the ball their offensive identity this season.
