Teflon worn thin

To the editor: Do you remember the Maffia mob boss John Gotti — the so called “Teflon John” because he was indicted and tried in three different consecutive trials on felony charges of five murders, obstruction of justice, extortion and racketeering and found guilty. Gotti avoided consequences for his crimes but never once claimed he was being “picked on” or was the object of someone’s animus.

To the editor:

Do you remember the Maffia mob boss John Gotti — the so called “Teflon John” because he was indicted and tried in three different consecutive trials on felony charges of five murders, obstruction of justice, extortion and racketeering and found guilty.

Gotti avoided consequences for his crimes but never once claimed he was being “picked on” or was the object of someone’s animus. Finally, in a subsequent trial, Gotti was convicted of these crimes, given a life sentence and died in prison. He did the crimes, so he did the time.
