To the editor:
The start of the Christian Advent Season is the start of the Liturgical New Year for Christians as we focus on the coming of the Savior, given in love to the world.
As we gather with our families, worship the Christ Child in our church services, and contribute to betterment of our community and country, may we be guided by what God says as summarized in Zechariah 8:16-17: “These are the things that you are to do: Speak the truth to one another. Render judgments that uphold truth, justice, and peace in your gates.
Do not plot evil in your hearts against each other.
Do not love false oaths.
Indeed I hate all these things, declares the Lord.”
Furthermore, God lovingly instructs in James 1:5-8: “If any one of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives it to all without reservation and without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
But let him ask in faith [in the Lord], without doubting, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
In fact, that person should not expect that he will receive anything from the Lord. He is a double- minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
May your 12-Days of Christmas, from December 25th to January 6th, be filled with wisdom, wonder and joy at the remembrance of the birth of Christ Jesus. Merry Christmas!
