To the editor:
A new year, a new County Board, and the same old Enterprise editorial writer.
Referencing the opinion page on Dec. 5, the inferences, attempts to divide and outright negativity make it plain that the Enterprise remains on a path to tear down this county.
Also, a lack of research is evident.
For instance, the current commissioners “plan to weigh the (new) commissioner’s feedback heavily before extending the job offer” to a new administrator. Yet original meeting schedules provided no time for commissioners-elect to pose questions to administrator candidates in an open forum. The new administrator will work for two of the present commissioners. So five commissioners voting will be out of office before the new administrator takes office.
Somehow the author knows that commissioner-elect Bunek may “have a clear path to becoming the county board chairman again” without citing a source. How clairvoyant — and controversial.
Magically, it appears, the Energy Futures Task Force will become a sticking point even though it already was terminated by the current board. And “GOP affiliates” made “attempts” to present “prosecutorial evidence” against the task force. What affiliates are those? Are they residents reporting Open Meetings Act violations and conflict of interest?
New commissioners must “be ready to act and make some big decisions.” Why is this different than any other set of commissioners assuming office? Because four are Republicans?
The editorial reeks with anger issues over election results. I ask the Enterprise to become a forward-thinking leader in the future.
