County Oks 3% wage increase

The Leelanau County board of commissioners approved the following items under their consent agenda at their Dec. 17 meeting:

• A sheriff’s office request to use grant funds to send a second employed recruit to basic police training, but only if a deputy leaves their position in Leelanau County as anticipated. The board previously approved a grant application to the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Northwestern Michigan College that would allow them to send the first employed recruit to the academy at their November meeting.

• Year-end adjustments and transfers deemed necessary to avoid year-end deficits in the various department budgets within the general fund, with no transfer/ adjustments to go beyond the contingency fund.
