Congratulations on making it through another year!
As we look back on 2024, and more importantly look forward to 2025, all I can say is thank you for supporting local journalism.
The past year has shown me just how vital community news remains in our digital age. Whether covering township meetings, high school sports, or local business developments, we’ve been there to tell the stories that matter to northern Michigan. Your continued readership and engagement make it all possible.
We’ve adapted to changing times while maintaining our commitment to meaningful reporting. Our digital presence has grown alongside our traditional coverage, allowing us to reach readers wherever they are. But what hasn’t changed is our dedication to being your trusted source for local news. When national headlines feel overwhelming, we’re here to keep you connected to home.
We can’t wait to share what’s going to happen next year, and we wish your family the best of health and happiness in 2025. May we unite to celebrate and stick together through the trials and triumphs ahead.
I continue to look forward to the new year with excitement. The first challenge is taking advantage of the winter before we get to see the sun for more than one day in a row.
As a young man sitting in 2025, I feel more confident than ever to turn the fortunes in my favor with hard work, diligence, and a smile. As with all goals, I believe the most important thing is to write them down. While it’s good to tell some people for support, there are times when you have to keep things close to the chest.
Some of my goals this year include continuing my health journey by taking a deeper look at my diet. I’m also developing metrics to measure my mental well-being. Since my life involves a lot of screen time, it’s important to be disciplined and block off technology-free periods.
These small but significant changes align with my broader professional and personal objectives for the year ahead.
Christmas is an ever-growing special time for me. As my parents get older, I realize more and more how important the holiday is, and seeing the several new children is such a blessing. We had a great family Christmas last week and through the new year we will be celebrating many more.
I’m excited to see which sports teams will make 2025 their year. Plenty of area basketball teams have what it takes to make a splash, along with wrestling, bowling and skiing. I can’t wait to watch these inspiring local athletes.
The Chinese New Year in 2025 brings us the Year of the Wood Snake, beginning January 29. The United Nations has also designated 2025 as the “International Year of Quantum,” highlighting exciting advancements in quantum science and technology.
As we embrace this new year, let’s approach it with what Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh would call “an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.” Together, we’ll continue sharing the stories that unite and strengthen our northern Michigan community.
