To the editor:
Having suffered through a year and a half of economics both macro and micro at the U of M, I need to reply to some of the arrogant, ignorant letters complete with their fine whines and algorithms.
Let’s discuss tariffs and the foolish idea that foreign governments pay them. These tariffs are the “Grapes of Wrath” from an aged man who feels our country has repeatedly been disloyal to him.
Free trade ties the economies of countries together.
Indiscriminate tariffs threaten to destroy those protective connections and send the world into dangerous conflicts.
In truth a “Nightmare” like that “One Elm Street” isn’t over; it’s just beginning.
