Glen Lake wrestling had its second season home meet against TC St. Francis and Forest Area Thursday.
The Lakers bounced back after a disappointing meeting on Tuesday to earn a pair of wins “We all came off the mat thinking we could do a little better (Tuesday). We made that the focus tonight to come out and wrestle a little better drive and passion tonight when we stepped on the mat, especially in front of our home crowd,” Glen Lake coach Luke Moeggenberg said. “I’m extremely proud of each and every single one of the wrestlers tonight.”
The Lakers will have their senior night Jan. 22.
Glen Lake wrestlers Caden Sheehan and DJ Mikowski had the matches of the night.
Sheehan won both matches, including a nail-biter against TC St. Francis that lasted three rounds.
“I was slowing it down because it started getting fast, but I remembered what moves to hit at times and stay in position,” Sheehan said.
Mikowski defeated Eli Jaworski in a three-round battle. With 1:26 left in the third round, Mikowski earned the win, which catapulted the Lakers to defeat St. Francis 33-30.
“(St. Francis) is really aggressive and was throwing his head in there... When I got the chance, I just took it,” Mikowski said.
The Lakers defeated Forest Area 48-15 in the first blowout match.
