Get ready to cheer on the newest addition to the local teen sport scene: the LIFT (Leelanau Investing for Teens) Community Cheer Squad.
This initiative is gearing up to make its grand debut at upcoming sporting events, bringing a wave of spirit and support to student-athletes.
The LIFT Community Cheer Squad is a volunteer-based group dedicated to boosting the morale of high school athletes and creating a fun and energetic atmosphere in the stands. With their custom LIFT Cheer Squad T-shirts highlighting the four Leelanau County public high schools (Suttons Bay, Glen Lake, Northport, and Leland) and their enthusiastic, supportive presence, they aim to uplift the players’ spirits.
“We are thrilled to announce the launch of the LIFT Community Cheer Squad, a longtime dream of ours,” said Rebekah TenBrink, LIFT executive director.“Our goal is to create a sense of unity and camaraderie for the community while showing our unwavering support for Leelanau youth,.”
The Squad is open to community members of all ages and backgrounds who are passionate about supporting Leelanau youth and cheering on our local teams. Volunteers sign up to receive a weekly Cheer Squad Newsletter for athletic schedules, attend any games they choose, and look for fellow community members in Cheer Squad shirts.
“We believe that sports have the power to bring people together, lift our youth up, and create a sense of community pride,” said Courtney Gorman, LIFT Volunteer Director. We invite everyone to join us in spreading positivity and encouragement at Leelanau Public School sporting events.”
