Crick bowls in Las Vegas

Glen Lake graduate Chloe Crick (2023) bowled for the Davenport University Panthers in a Las Vegas tournament to ring in the new year.

“It was a lot of fun. It was an experience for sure. I wish I would’ve done better than what I had done, but for being my first time in an environment like that, I can’t really complain about how I did,” Crick said.

The four-day tournament presented a unique opportunity for the Panthers, as it represented “tier one” tournaments that offered more points than smaller tournaments.

Crick had a five-baker score of 857 (Avg. 170), good enough for third on the Panthers.

“I’ve definitely learned the most about myself and how well I can handle the lane with a mental toughness aspect of how I want to bowl because I used to struggle with that a lot during high school,” Crick said. “How to accept that you’re not always going to have these super good days, there’s going to be bad days, and how you have to work around those bad days by either putting in more time or doing some personal reflections, which I’ve been doing a lot more like this year.”

Davenport is preparing for their last tournaments in February and sectionals in March.

The Panthers men’s and women’s bowling posted a topfour showing in their respective brackets for the first competition of the 2025 calendar year, with the varsity and junior varsity squads leaving their mark on the American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) No. 5 Tournament.

Crick finished 24th with a four-baker score of 840, and the women claimed first place out of 14 teams, their third victory out of five in the American Heartland Bowling Association. Crick is majoring in nursing and recently started clinical labs for the first time.

“I finally am into the fun stuff of schooling, not just the prerequisites,” Crick said.
