‘Wiener ski’ set Feb. 1 at Shady Lane

Three Suttons Bay area businesses are coming together for a day of winter fun on Saturday, Feb. 1.

Shady Lanes Cellars will host “Wiener Ski,” offering a 5K loop meant for cross country skiing and hiking or a 1.5K trail made for snowshoeing.

Guests can bring their own equipment or rent skis or snowshoes from Suttons Bay Bikes. Rentals arranged in advance will be available for pick up at 1 p.m. and must be returned by 5 p.m. — all on site at Shady Lane Cellars.

The winery team is partnering with Leelanau Cheese Company for this event. From noon to 3 p.m. Nik Basford of Leelanau Cheese will be on site with a winter warm up of beer brats on a pretzel bun with sauerkraut, whole grain mustard and topped with melted raclette.

Shady Lane will be open for tastings and wine purchases. The staff will also provide mulled wine. The winter day will also feature live music from 2 to 5 p.m., by Manistee’s Nick Veine, performing a mix of blues, soul and folk.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The winery is located at 9580 Shady Lane, Suttons Bay.
