The Leland Township Library staff will operate out of the Munnecke community room until May with limited services available while the facility is being renovated. The scheduled renovation project began Feb. 3.
During construction, the library will maintain core services including limited materials for browsing and checkout, MEL (Michigan eLibrary) services, access to two public computers, printing services, fax and notary service. Popular recurring programs such as Storytime and Book Club will temporarily relocate to the Leland Community United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 106 Fourth St. in Leland. The Leland Township regular board meeting on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. will also be held at a different venue, the Old Art Building, due to the renovation project.
The project will transform the library’s payout to better serve the community’s evolving needs while addressing aging infrastructure. Plans include an expanded children’s room, a new teen area, and multiple study/meeting rooms, all designed to enhance accessibility throughout the building. Detailed architectural renderings of the project are available on the Leland Library website, lelandlibrary.org or upon request.
