Fun with pencils At the beginning of the year, St. Mary School science teacher Kate Paulson, challenged students to be prepared by bringing a pencil to class every day. If the students achieved the goal, they would celebrate at the end of the semester. Adorned in their pointy pencil tip hats, students completed a pencil facts crossword and constructed catapults built solely from pencils and rubber bands. This was a friendly competition to see who could launch their dice the furthest. The students had fun and also learned many new facts about a tool most everyone uses - the pencil!
