Conservancy criticism

To the editor:

I took a walk today on the new section of bike trail being installed by the Leelanau Conservancy on the east side of Wheeler Rd - right next to NPS land and my home.

I was shocked and saddened by the methods they are using bulldozers, switchbacks up the very steepest parts of the hill, and bermed trails around 6 feet wide. These are most certainly not friendly trails intended for average riders, nordic skiers, or even hikers - it’s a bicycle park race track up there, plain and simple.
