To the editor:

Leelanau Township’s decision to turn down a badly needed wireless communication tower reminds me of what then-Leelanau County Planning Director Toni Perfect told me when I was covering county government for the Enterprise. “Whenever anyone buys a place in Leelanau County,” Toni told me, “they look to the north. They look to the south. They look to the east. They look to the west. And they declare, NOTHING I SEE CAN EVER BE ALLOWED TO CHANGE.”

The next time somebody in that neck of the woods needs a connection for a 911 emergency but can’t get one, I hope the tower opponents are well pleased.
