Local girls basketball teams are playing in their final regular season games before tournament action starts at the district level Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Glen Lake girls basketball completed two victories over the past week. First, the Lakers, defeated Buckley 57-43 Friday as Jessie Pugh led with 13 points and six rebounds. Lydia Fosmore, Grace Noonan each had nine points and Avery Flores had eight points.
The Lakers turned around and defeated Suttons Bay in Northport Tuesday 65-26.
Noonan dominated with 17 points and six steals while Flores had 12 points, eight rebounds.
Laila Shimek chipped in nine points and eight rebounds followed by Alayna Ottenbacher with seven points, five assists, and Abby Steffke had six points and six assists.
Leland girls fell in a Northwest Conference Championship Tuesday 18-11 as Frankfort won the conference outright.
Both teams had under 10 points in the first half.
The Comets defeated Benzie Central 45-22 Friday to end the regular season.
Leland was led by Elli Miller 22 points, 7 rebounds , 4 steals; Hadley Bison 6 points, 2 steals; Lilly Connor 5 points; Ella Knudsen 4 points, 2 steals.
The Comets (16-5, 10-4 Northwest) play Wednesday in a district semifinal.
Lake Leelanau St. Mary girls (13-6) defeated TC St. Francis 43-36 last week as senior Kyla Barnowski led with 13 points.
Eagle sophomore Lydia Bramer had 10 points and Mackenzie Schaub had 7 points.
St. Mary lost to St. Ignace Tuesday 66-49 during parents and senior night.
The Eagles were led by Bramer with 22 points; Muriel Korson 9 points; Cathryn Mikowski 8 points.
The Eagles will travel to Glen Lake today at 7 p.m. before playing in a district semifinal at Frankfort Monday.
