Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore has rescheduled the Candlelight Hikes and Maple Sugaring Days program originally set for February 28 and March 1 to Saturday, March 22, due to a rapid drop in temperatures and dangerous winter conditions at the park.
As an alternative for March 1, the Lakeshore will offer night sky programs in the inflatable planetarium. These 30-minute programs will feature Anishinaabe night-sky oral traditions and take place every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Philip A. Hart Visitor Center. The inflatable planetarium is ADA accessible. Reservations are recommended for these free programs. Please call 231-326-4700, extension 5005, for details and to make reservations.
In addition, the Community Pancake Breakfast at The Homestead Resort is still set to be held on Saturday March 1 from 8 a.m. to noon. It will be held in CQs Cabin in The Homestead Village. Breakfast will be $12 per adult, $6 for children ages 6-12, and free for children 5 and under. The event is hosted by The Homestead Resort and sponsored by Sleeping Bear Visitor’s Bureau. Proceeds will benefit Preserve Historic Sleeping Bear, a nonprofi t partner of Sleeping Bear Dunes.
