To the editor:
Elections have consequences, and boy, the 2024 presidential election sure did!
Some of the consequences that will directly affect Michigan include: firing 14 Fish and Wildlife employees implement the Lamprey Control Program on the Great Lakes (bye-bye trout); firing Forest Service employees who replants logged forests, clear trails, fight forest fires (bye-bye healthy forests); firing 1,000 VA employees (byebye to research on veteran suicide, health effects of burn pits…); firing EPA attorneys who fight environmental polluters (bye-bye clean water and air); a proposed GOP budget that would force the closing of rural hospital, shut down nursing homes, gut Medicare (bye-bye needed health care services) all while giving the wealthy a giant tax cut and a new foreign policy that embraces Russia, eschews Europe and blames Ukraine for Russia invading its sovereign territory (sorry to all our veterans who fought against dictatorsyou now have one.) And not one Republican Congressperson stood up and said NO to any of this — looking at you U.S. Representative Jack Bergman.
