The Glen Lake girls basketball team (10-4) ended its season in a 52-32 loss in the MHSAA Div. 3 District championship against Manton Friday.
“I thought we did a great job going in there. We knew it would be a tough battle, but we just knew that we wanted to give a great effort, which they did, and I was just really proud of the girls for how hard they fought. Manton is a darn good team, but we gave them a run,” Glen Lake coach Brad Fosmore said.
Glen Lake advanced to the district final after defeating Elk Rapids 34-24 in a low-scoring affair Wednesday.
After a remarkable career, the Lakers will graduate one senior, Jessie Pugh. The senior played all four years for the Lakers.
“(Pugh) brought a ton of energy, always wanted to go out, and she was one of our best defenders. She displayed a lot of energy and brought a lot of emotion, which is good,” Fosmore said.
The Lakers will return and hope to grow in the 2025-26 season.
“We just learned a lot of lessons. It was a tough year; I felt like we were in games ... We were right there many times,” Fosmore said.
The Lakers will have only one senior again next season, Grace Noonan. Other than that, the Lakers are a team of juniors and sophomores with plenty of size coming through the ranks.
