To the editor:
Dear Leelanau Neighbors: After watching President Trump and Vice President Vance attack President Zelensky in the Oval Office on Friday, I was not only surprised but infuriated that our leaders would defend Putin and Russian oligarchs over a country invaded by Russia! How can we as Americans support such a position? We live in a county with many people who have emigrated from eastern European countries. If our leaders roll over for Putin and his desire to take Ukraine, what happens when he wants Poland or Lithuania and so on and so on? We as Americans need to send a strong message to our leaders that Ukraine is not for sale to Russia! And it is high time that Congressman Bergman represents American values and stops being a pushover for Trump and his desire to support Putin. We need peace in that region of the world and supporting Trump’s alliance with Putin will not achieve that end.
