Bergman scared?

To the Editor:

Once again, Congressman Jack Bergman is missing in action. Traverse Indivisible and Leelanau Indivisible invited him to a town hall, but he won’t show—just like he didn’t in Escanaba. Why? Because he’s afraid of facing the people he was elected to serve.

Instead of listening to veterans, working families, and seniors, Bergman’s office dismisses them as “paid protesters” and smears their concerns as “Soros-funded.” That’s not leadership. That’s cowardice.

If Bergman truly believes in cutting VA staff, gutting Medicaid, and eliminating the Department of Education, he should have the guts to defend those positions in front of his constituents. But he won’t— because he knows his agenda doesn’t serve us.

Real leaders don’t run from tough questions. They don’t hide behind talking points and locked doors. They stand up and face the people who put them in office.

If Jack Bergman refuses to do his job, maybe it’s time we find someone who will.

Show up, Jack. Or step aside. Beryl Striewski Elmwood Township
